Marvel Ultimate Alliance - Updated Character Pack Achievement Guide

Written by Pedle Zelnip

The new downloadable content for Marvel Ultimate Aliance (or MUA for short) features eight new additional characters, and 12 new achievements for a total of 250 possible additional gamerscore points. This achievement guide will only cover the new updated character pack for MUA, it will not cover the original game content. For help with the achievements in the original game, see the two excellent achievement guides at:

As mentioned the new downloadable content for MUA features eight new additional characters, and there is one achievement for each character if you unlock all three additional outfits for that character. However, unlike the orignal game, there are no "comic discs" for the new characters, so to unlock outfits for the new characters you simply need to kill a certain number of enemies with that character. The exact number isn't known, but estimates put it around 250 kills to unlock all three outfits. Note that it is 250 kills with *YOU CONTROLLING THAT CHARACTER*, you cannot get the outfits unlocked by simply having the characters in your party. I personally did all of these on the Ulik comic book mission as it has unlimited enemies (you just need to keep an eye on the time -- if it gets close to running out, go kill Ulik and do the mission again, continuing where you left off).

The eight new achievements for unlocking outfits are as follows (each is worth 20 gamerscore points):

  1. Gamma Garb - Unlocked all the outfits for the Hulk.
  2. Archer Apparel - Unlocked all the outfits for Hawkeye.
  3. Optic Outfits - Unlocked all the outfits for Cyclops.
  4. Teleport Threads - Unlocked all the outfits for Nightcrawler
  5. Doom's Duds - Unlocked all the outfits for Doom.
  6. Magnetic Regalia - Unlocked all the outfits for Magneto.
  7. Symbiote Skins - Unlocked all the outfits for Venom.
  8. Creed's Cloth - Unlocked all the outfits for Sabretooth.

In addition there are four "conversation" achievements which are awarded when you have a conversation with a certain one of the new characters with another character at a particular point in the game. Each is outlined below.

  1. Mutant Love - Cyclops has spoken with Jean. - Worth 20 points, this one is gotten when you have Cyclops as a member of your team in Act 2 after you save Jean Grey from the Pitfall game in the first Murderworld level (just shortly after you rescue Senator Kelly). You'll get the achievement right after completing the Pitfall game. I've heard that you don't need to have Cyclops as the main character to get the achievement, just have him in your party, but I have not confirmed this.
  2. Fleeting Allies - Magneto has spoken to Xavier. - Worth 20 points, this one is gotten when you have Magneto in your team in Act 2 as soon as you enter Mephistos Realm (the level you warp to from Dr Strange's headquarters after completing Murderworld). Note that when I got this achievement I had Magneto in my party, but did *NOT* have him as the active character (so it would appear you only need to have him in your party to get the achievement).
  3. Wrong Claws - Sabretooth has been mistaken for Wolverine. - Worth 25 points, this one is gotten when you have Sabretooth in your team in Act 4 when you encounter Gladiator in the Shi'ar (rumour has it you can also get the achievement when you run into Lady Deathbird later in the level).
  4. Doppelganger - Doom has spoken with himself. - Worth 25 points, this one is gotten when you have Dr. Doom in your team the final act (Act 5) on the last level when you meet the Dr. Doom who stole Odin's powers (right before you take on the evil Fantastic Four).
